Let's give insurance another college try

Well, Dennis worked the USHPA insurance company and got blocked by the other side.

Who would enthusiastically chase down another lead Windlord gave me a while back?

I want to give insurance two more strong tries before we think about being a lesser org.

Re: Work Thread - Insurance

Really good idea, Ana. I was thinking the Cloudbase foundation... some tricky money handling might be an issue until we get non-profit status.

Maybe start something in the brainstorming section.

How about $10...

If nothing else, free flight america can figure that they can keep all hang glider pilots in two groups or start losing us.

Re: Work Thread - Insurance

Very good points, Dennis. What this tells me is that Lloyd's is the ultimate insurer and these people are just middlemen, seeing how they can't split it up. If they had any real power, they'd just bill USHPA more, us more, and make more money. Your suggestion is one good tack, the other possibility ...

Online Mag?

So, Ana's kicking ass on the P&Ps. We're waiting for insurance agents to get back to us (right now wouldn't it be nice to have Ned Ryerson on the case?). I was thinking about a magazine... online, of course. I've submitted a couple dozen or so pics to USHPA that have gotten ignored. The last art...

Re: Policies and Procedures

Thanks for all the hard work, Ana. I'll really dig in tonight or tomorrow night. Local club politics have chewed up all my hang gliding energy for the last couple of weeks, but I seem to have gotten to a point where I can set that stuff aside for a while and focus on building, instead of bullshit. Y...

Re: Call for a vote

Thanks for following up and for the status update, Dennis. As someone who, in a hurry, dropped $20K in to expanding AJX and is now waiting for the rest of the club to catch up, especially on tedious things like paperwork, I really appreciate your efforts to get the Ts crossed right off the bat. As a...

Re: P&P - Procedure for Establishing or Altering Procedure

I would say lop policies up into manageable chunks... things that fit into one vote. If 3 policies are best voted on together, so be it. Throw them out for discussion. Give it a week, let me know, I'll set up a vote... or we can get you the url to start a vote (I don't think it's permissions-protect...

Re: P&P - Establishing Unacceptable Behavior Policy

So far, it's been pretty easy to handle... people get pissed off and leave.

I don't know, it doesn't hurt too much to have someone asleep at the switch. Maybe somewhere between 1 and 6 months with no response?

Re: Call for a vote

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the follow up and for dealing with this. I can't imagine a more antithetical operation to your efficient and hard-charging personality than an insurance business.
